NICO AND MICHAEL VISIT MERCEDES-BENZ WORKS IN KECSKEMÉT

RACE NEWS // 28.07.2011

Before Formula One enters its summer break in August, there is still one more race to be hotly contested. Just seven days after the Nürburgring – the second of two home races in a row for MERCEDES GP PETRONAS – the team will be competing in the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring.

In the run-up to the race weekend, Nico and Michael visited the new Mercedes-Benz plant at Kecskemét. The MERCEDES GP PETRONAS drivers, who arrived in a Mercedes SLS AMG, were greeted by around 1,200 employees. They then signed autographs and took part in a question-and-answer session on the season so far and on current developments in the world of Formula One.

The Kecskemét factory will be working in collaboration with the Mercedes-Benz Rastatt site on the successor versions of the current A-Class and B-Class which are due to start rolling off the assembly lines in 2012. By the start of 2013, the workforce is set to rise to 2,500 and annual production to 100,000 units.
