iWitness in Silverstone: Sunday
Posted on Monday 11 Jul 2011
The family atmosphere was in abundance in the AT&T Williams motorhome this weekend. Chairman Adam Parr brought his children Felix and Louis in on Saturday and today it was the turn of Sam Michael’s kids Jacques and Toni. Who next, Henry Lavers? (only when his father, Richard, turns up more regularly! – ed)
It’s been fabulous having Ginny Williams, wife of Sir Frank, at Silverstone this weekend. She’s been ill in recent months and so everyone in the team – and the F1 paddock as a whole – has been thrilled to see her. A certain Mr Ecclestone seemed particularly pleased and personally escorted her to Sunday’s grid when he found out she was in town.
From F1 Royalty (The Williams family) to actual Royalty… The House of Windsor has been out in force at Silverstone this weekend: The Duke of Kent was here yesterday and Prince Harry was giving out the prizes on the podium today, mirroring something his mother Diana did in 1994. Harry wants to drive an F1 car apparently; how about it, Frank?
Some bad news for Rubens Barrichello. This time last year he beat the Stig on BBC Top Gear’s “Star in a reasonably priced car” and he was so made up by the result that he had t-shirts made up for the other F1 drivers that had failed to do that. Unfortunately, Seb Vettel went on the programme this evening and he beat Rubens’ time by 0.3s…
