VITALY SPORTS BLACK HELMET IN TRIBUTE TO VICTIMS
10/09/2011
As a mark of respect for the victims of Wednesday’s plane crash in Russia, in which 43 people died - including members of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice hockey team - and to mark the tenth anniversary of 9/11, Vitaly will compete in tomorrow’s Italian Grand Prix wearing a black helmet, as he did during today’s third practice and qualifying sessions.
"I want to send my condolences to all the families and friends of victims of the awful catastrophe this week”, said Vitaly. It doesn’t matter which team you support, the whole of Russia is shocked by what has happened. Of course this disaster has come during the week that marks the tenth anniversary of 9/11, which in itself is an extremely sad and poignant moment. I will wear my black helmet as a mark of respect for both these tragedies”, said Vitaly.
