The first evidence of the new joint venture between Red Bull Technology and Renault Sport F1 was announced today.
From next season we will be supplying Team Lotus with their Kers system in conjunction with Renault Sport F1. We currently supply the Anglo-Malaysian outfit with gearboxes and Renault Sport F1 are the team’s engine supplier.
Christian Horner, our team principal, said: “We’re very happy to extend the relationship between Red Bull Technology and Team Lotus, which already utilises our gearboxes, to include KERS for 2012 onwards. This endorses the joint venture between Renault Sport F1 and Red Bull Technology, which will continue to develop in the coming months. Hopefully this will enable Team Lotus to build on the significant progress they have already made this season.”
The joint technical venture was announced in Monza and sees Red Bull Technology and Renault Sport F1 collaborate to develop innovative technical solutions for the V6-based power unit which will be introduced from 2014.”
