Top ten tenuous team titbits from India
30/10/2011
It’s been the Lotus Renault GP’s first visit to India and here’s a list of ten things we’ve learnt whilst we’ve been here:
1. The Buddh International Circuit is an awesome race track.
2. It’s also very dusty.
3. Monkeys are frequent travellers by bicycle here (in Delhi; Monkeys have not been seen on the track; just dogs).
4. The traffic is sufficient to challenge even the quick reactions of an F1 driver.
5. Delhi drivers have their very own take on Melbourne’s ’hook turns’ which can be employed at any time, in any direction, from any lane of the road.
6. All roads are multi-functional, and can be driven in either direction on either side using either forwards or reverse gears.
7. Delhi has just overtaken Mumbai in terms of population; depending on how you measure the greater city areas.
8. Delhi has 22.2 million residents in the greater National Capital Region urban area.
9. India is the second most populous country in the world with over 1.2 billion people.
10. The standard electrical socket in India is the British Standard 546 (the standard in Great Britain before 1962).
