Sergio “Checo” Pérez, Sauber F1 Team driver, finished the inaugural Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit and added up one more point to his tally, which already counts with 14 points and is positioned 16 in the Driver’s Championship.
The Mexican driver said it had been good to enter the points zone again and bet to keep this track for the last two races of the F1 World Championship 2011.
“It’s good to have entered the points zone again, it’s been an excellent strategy, quite an aggressive one. I’m happy for the team, it has done an excellent work”, explained Checo after the race.
The Sauber C30-Ferrari #17 driver, who started this morning in P20 could overtake 10 positions, the longest of all the race, in this inaugural F1 round in India.
The race was ruled by Sebastian Vettel with 1:27.249, followed by Jenson Button 1:27.967 and Fernando Alonso 1:28.298

He commented that among his priorities is “improve his speed in the qualifying sessions” and “be more competitive, making more points in the following races.” In order that Sauber F1 Team can finish above their nearest contenders, Toro Rosso and Force India.

Sergio “Checo” Pérez, piloto de Sauber F1 Team, finalizó décimo en el primer Gran Premio de India, en el Budd International Circuit y sumó un punto más a su cuenta personal, que ya tiene 14 unidades y lo ubica en el puesto 16 del Campeonato de Pilotos.
El piloto tapatío dijo que es “bueno” haber regresado a los puntos y apostó por seguir con esta línea en las dos últimas carreras del Campeonato Mundial de F1.
“Es bueno haber regresado a los puntos desde la posición en que estábamos, ha sido una buena estrategia, bastante agresiva. Estoy contento por el equipo, ha hecho un buen trabajo”, declaró después de la carrera.
El piloto del Sauber C30-Ferrari #17, quien largó desde el sitio 20, logró avanzar 10 puestos, la remontada más larga de toda la carrera, en el que fue el debut del país asiático en la máxima categoría del automovilismo.
La carrera la ganó Sebastian Vettel (1:27.249); seguido por Jenson Button (1:27.967) y Fernando Alonso (1:28.298).
Antes de que iniciara la competencia, los pilotos guardaron un minuto de silencio por las recientes muertes en accidente de Dan Wheldon en la IndyCar y Marco Simoncelli en MotoGP.
Mejora constante, la apuesta
Comentó que entre sus prioridades está “mejorar la velocidad en calificación” en el futuro para “ser más competitivos” y “hacer más puntos en las siguientes carreras”, de manera que Sauber F1 Team pueda quedar delante de sus inmediatos competidores Toro Rosso y Foce India.
