The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is powered by a twin-turbo V-8 that puts out up to 550 horsepower.
Introduced on Wednesday: 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG.
What is it? A more fuel-efficient AMG.
What makes it tick? The new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8 engine, which makes 550 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque with the optional AMG Performance Package (without, those figures are 518 and 516, respectively). The Speedshift MCT 7-speed sport transmission helps to achieve an estimated fuel economy of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 21 on the highway, a 33 percent improvement over the departing 6.2-liter.

How much, how soon? It’s due in June, with pricing to be set in May. Expect it to push six figures.
How’s it look? Rendered in matte gray, the upscale CLS sedan morphs into something as menacing as a Predator missile, under which are aluminum doors, hood, front clip and trunk lid. The optional AMG Performance package adds a carbon-fiber hood and rear spoiler along with suspension upgrades and nicer trim.
