2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK to Launch Marque's In-Car Web Service

Never willing to shy away from technology, the upcoming 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class will come with in-car Web service, reports German publication Automobilwoche.

If you absolutely need access to the Internet in your car, the 2012 SLK will put it at your fingertips through the brand's Cockpit Management and Data system. COMAND links the sound system, video output, hands-free cellphone connection, and optional navigation functions to the driver, who is capable of managing much of the controls from the steering wheel. With the Web service, Mercedes' myCOMAND infotainment system (first previewed during the 2008 L.A. Auto Show) appears to be drawing closer to fruition.

The SLK will be the launch bed for the new in-car Internet service, but the new C-Class is expected to offer such capability following the SLK.

The 2012 SLK is expected to officially debut during the Geneva Motor Show this coming March.
