A rare souped-up city car makes its debut in Thailand this week.
Wow! How much is this baby?
A good B2.89m mate. It's a rare city car from Brabus that debuted at the Emporium shopping mall this week courtesy Yuma Motor, the new agent for Brabus in Thailand. The basis of the so-called Brabus Ultimate 112 is the Smart Fortwo. As the number indicates, only 112 units will be made. The one shown here is the 89th car.
Convert me from my Mini, please.
You want to look cool, eh? Well, don't lust for the Toyota iQ that's sold in the grey market at nearly half the price of this Brabus _ it's unique but rather plain. Imagine a city car running on 18-inch wheels and tyres _ with bespoke sizes of 205/35 and 235/30 section bits. Then, there's the stainless exhaust pipe and the special interior... have a look at the picture for yourself.
Interior gets special trimming.
Not bad, man. What's the power like?
Brabus has played around with the standard 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and managed to crank it up to 112hp and 150Nm. The 0-100kph time is 9.5sec before the watch stops at 170kph.
But isn't my Mini quicker than that?
If you're driving a Cooper S (with a 184hp 1.6-litre turbo engine), then definitely yes. But if you're saddled with that so-so Cooper (122hp 1.6-litre non-turbo motor), the Brabus is a shade faster, by nearly a full second. That said, the Ultimate 112 is cannily priced, performing somewhere between the Cooper and Cooper S.
When can I get it?
There's only one slated for Thailand. Is it you in the guise of that lucky buyer?
Rear end sees stainless steel exhaust pipe.
