Lagonda SUV plans 'almost finished' says Aston Martin CEO

Ulrich Bez has revealed at a conference in Rotterdam that his company is pressing ahead with plans to bring a Lagonda SUV to emerging markets in Russia, China and the Middle East.

An SUV concept was unveiled at the Geneva motor show last year but was not received favourably.

It was a large 4×4 based on the platform of the Mercedes GL, with whom it is anticipated Aston Martin could partner to deliver the project.

There have been suggestions more recently that the Lagonda badge could be revived using the Aston Rapide as a basis, but Bez appears to have dismissed those rumours.

The Aston boss did also hint that the company had taken the criticism of the Geneva model on board and had taken a different direction with the new car’s styling.

There is no word yet on when an official reveal might take place.
