SEMA 2010: Chevy Bringing Special Racing-Inspired Corvette Jake Edition Concept
The Chevrolet Corvette has a certain friend named Jake, and Jake is making a special guest appearance at the SEMA show.
Jake is the skull logo (it cleverly uses the Corvette's crossed flags as the outline for the eyes and nose) that adorns the C6.R race cars, and he has been riding along for years. At SEMA, Jake will be plastered all over a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport in black, outside and inside. Power comes from the stock 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Certain Jake-logo parts will eventually come to market. For now, Jake's place is with the C6.R race teams and the SEMA show.
Outside the Jake Edition Concept, Jake can be found on the hood, fender, and beneath the hood. The wheels are sourced from the Z06 and painted Competition Gray, while Jake is also located on the center caps. A Corvette logo is splashed across the top of the windshield and a Chevrolet Accessory rear spoiler is attached to the trunk. The Jake-logo wheel center caps and underhood blanket will be on sale at a later date.
Inside, the show 'Vette is fitted with ebony leather, titanium stitching, and red accents on the seats. The interior trim and racing pedal kits are sourced from the factory Chevy accessory catalog. Jake will be matched with the floor mats and console lid; both components will be available for paying customers in the future.
Jake first reared his head in 2005, when the C6.R was competing in the GT1 category. We can now find the C6.R going wheel-to-wheel in the American Le Mans Series GT class.
