Dodge Drops More Photos of 2011 Challenger SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition

Had enough of the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition? It seems the folks at Chrysler knew you didn't, as they just released an additional batch of photographs showing the limited-edition muscle car in all of its blue-and-white glory.

For 2011, all Challenger SRT8 cars receive a number of upgrades, but none quite as substantial as the work performed within the engine bay. Although the previous 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 served prior Challenger SRT8 models well, the 420-horsepower engine was eclipsed later in life by other challengers to the muscle car throne.

No more. For 2011, Chrysler's bored out the engine to a whopping 6.4 liters, which allows it to revive the heralded 392 cubic-inch displacement figure (first seen in the legendary 1957 300C). In this form, the overhauled Hemi is rated at 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. For the record, that's roughly 45 ponies and 50 pound-feet over the 2010 model, and eclipsing the 426 horsepower offered by the Camaro SS.

To celebrate the extra power for 2011, Dodge is crafting what it bills as the SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition. Only 1492 examples will be produced, but each will wear one of two exterior color schemes: Deep Water Blue with white stripes (pictured), or Bright White with Viper Blue stripes. Regardless of the exterior hue, Inaugural cars will receive white leather seating, which is capped off with blue stitching and insert stripes, along with embroidered logos on the front headrests.

Pricing for the special-edition SRT8 models has yet to be announced, but we wouldn't be too surprised if the Inaugural Edition package carries a slight premium over base Challenger SRT8 cars, which sticker at $43,380 (including $825 in destination fees).
