Volvo Announces 2012 S60 T5 FWD Will Start at $32,300
In the market for a front-wheel-drive Volvo S60? Good news: the Swedish automaker announced today that it's front-wheel-drive 2012 S60 T5 sedan will start at $32,300.
The 2012 S60 T5 will have a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque as well as a six-speed automatic transmission. Volvo claims a 0-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds. That's on the quicker and more powerful end of the S60 T5's segment, which includes the Audi A4, Lexus IS 250, Acura TSX and, on a price level, the new Infiniti G25.
The S60 T5 starts a full $6250 below the starting price of the S60 T6, which has all-wheel drive and a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine making 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque.
The base 2012 Volvo S60 T5 FWD is more expensive than the Acura and Infiniti, but less expensive than the Lexus, Audi, and BMW 328i. Unique to the Volvo is a five year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a five year/60,000-mile period of complimentary factory scheduled maintenance.
The S60 T5 has Corner Traction Control, which can brake the car's inner driven wheel while giving more power to the outer driven wheel, potentially reducing understeer and improving handling.
Standard on every S60 is City Safety, which can automatically stop the car if a pedestrian is detected while the vehicle is moving from 2-18 mph.
All the expected options and technology are offered on the five-cylinder S60. Individual options and packages are shown below.
