Doi Luang Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary, Chiang Mai
Doi Luang Chiang Dao is Thailand's tallest limestone mountain and one of the dream destinations of nature lovers. Other than the alpine vegetation, which is uncommon in this tropical country, the spectacular vista one can relish from its summit is simply unforgettable.
There are a couple of hiking trails up the peak. Each will take an average hiker at least four hours to finish. Visitors require permission from the wildlife sanctuary to scale the summit.
- How to get there
From Chiang Mai, take a bus to Chiang Dao from the Chang Phuek terminal. Chiang Dao is a small town, and the wildlife sanctuary headquarters is not far away.
- Food and accommodation
For overnight stay at the summit, you need to bring your own camping gear, food and water. If you need somebody to arrange those things plus porters, contact Klae Paet-rew on 081-993-8397.
