Kamui Kobayashi is looking to cut out his mistakes in 2011, in the hope that Sauber can deliver a more competitive car and he can finish higher up the standings.

Kobayashi's aggressive approach to racing saw him become a fans' favourite in 2010, but he also made mistakes at the Canadian and Singapore Grands Prix that resulted in retirement.

"My personal aim is to make zero mistakes," he said. "For the team I hope we will have a good car, and be able to fight for points on a regular basis to improve our position in the championship." When asked what his secret to overtaking was, he said: "If I feel I can overtake, I just do it. That's all, no secret."

Sauber suffered ten individual retirements in the opening six races, mainly due to mechanical failures, and only scored its first point at the seventh round in Turkey. Kobayashi said that it was difficult to resolve the reliability issues without in-season testing, but was impressed by his team's improvement later in the season.

"In the beginning we were struggling a lot," he said. "This was a pretty bad time. It was hard, and it was very difficult to recover from this situation during the season, because nowadays there is no testing. Despite this, towards the end of the season we were much stronger. The team did a great job to recover from this and I want to thank them for all their work."
