Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton win big at CMA Awards

(CNN) -- It has been a great year for country music couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert.
In the spring, the two announced their engagement, and Wednesday night, they grabbed a collective five awards at the 44th Annual Country Music Association Awards -- a first for both of them.
Lambert went home with the biggies: Album of the Year for "Revolution," Female Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the year.
Her fiance, Shelton, won two: Male Vocalist of the Year, and for Musical Event of the Year for his duet with Trace Adkins, "Hillbilly Bone."
"After the night that Blake and Miranda are having, I think we can expect a baby in about nine months," joked Brad Paisley, who hosted the ceremonies with Carrie Underwood at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The night boasted several other big winners:
Paisley walked away with the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, after five consecutive nominations. Paisley held back tears as he thanked his grandfather for laying the foundation for his start in music.
"Tonight, for me, is about him," he said. "This is a man who loved Buck Owens and he loved Johnny Cash and these people. And he said, 'I want you to learn to play the guitar because this is going to get you through lonely times and you will never be alone with this.'
"I don't think he ever thought that it would draw 20,000 people," Paisley said.
Sugarland, who performed their latest No. 1 hit "Stuck Like Glue," picked up their fourth Vocal Duo of the Year award. If they get 10 more, they will tie fellow nominee Brooks & Dunn's record of 14.
"To be able to win this award tonight, I think, is really validating in the sense that it's also your peers and they're saying, 'Yep, it's good. I like it,'" said Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles.
Lady Antebellum took home trophies for Single of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year.
The ceremony was packed with performances, including two memorable ones.
Sheryl Crow joined Lambert to perform "Coal Miner's Daughter" in honor of Loretta Lynn's 50 years as a country artist. Lynn joined the duo to perform the last verse of the song.
The other anticipated performance was actress Gwyneth Paltrow's country music debut, "Country Strong," which she breezed through and earned a standing ovation for.
"It takes a lot to come to our town and get up here and sing on our stage," Underwood said.
The two hosts, reprising their duties for the third time, kept the festivities rolling.
In a between-awards ditty, the two poked fun at current events, especially the scandals enveloping two beloved sports figures.
"She caught Tiger with some tail, it's plain to see. And Brett Favre has taken up photography," Paisley sang, of golf giant Tiger Woods and the star quarterback.
"Is it me or has pro sports gone straight to hell. Ever since they caught poor Tiger with some tail."
