Di Montezemolo slams below par Massa
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has criticised Felipe Massa's performance this season, saying that he drove like his brother.
Massa, who finished sixth in the Drivers' standings, 108 points behind his team-mate Fernando Alonso, has endured a lot of negative press this season having failed to match the performances of Alonso.
In analysing Massa's performance in a speech at Ferrari's traditional Christmas lunch at their Maranello base, di Montezemolo said that: "Felipe had a complicated season, but he will be able to get back to the level that saw him back in 2008 which is not exactly a long time ago, become world champion, albeit for just a few seconds."
However, the Ferrari chief is later quoted as telling Italian journalists by Reuters that: "At a certain point in the season Felipe was fed up and sent his brother.
"For this Felipe gets 7 minus. For Alonso, in his first season in Ferrari, I give him 9 and a half. But unfortunately even he didn't win."
The 63-year-old's comments are sure to go down poorly with his Brazilian employee, further undermining Massa's long-term future at the team.
