GreenBkk Formula 1 | No KERS for Virgin, Hispania

No KERS for Virgin, Hispania

Virgin and Hispania will not use the Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems in 2011, according to their engine supplier Cosworth.

KERS, originally introduced in Formula One in 2009 in an attempt to improve overtaking, will make a comeback next season after teams opted not to use it in 2010.

However, Cosworth general manager for F1 operations Mark Gallagher told F1 Fantatic that Virgin and Hispania won't be among the teams that will use the system next year.

"At the moment Williams are the only one of our customers who are going to be using KERS in 2011. Virgin and HRT are not," Gallagher said.

"Both those teams have expressed an interest in KERS for 2012."
