Chandhok not giving up on Lotus future
Karun Chandhok is determined to secure a long-term future with Team Lotus, although admits there is still no contract in place.
Chandhok confirmed earlier this month that he is talk with Team Lotus about taking a test driver role for 2011.
However, the Indian driver is hoping that his partnership with Team Lotus won't end after just one year.
"I like the idea of building an Asian team with Asian drivers, mechanics, engineers, PR and marketing people," he told the Deccan Herald.
"(F1) is dominated by the west so far. We have the brain power but not experience. Just want to show Asia is capable.
"Tony Fernandes is trying hard and that's what he has done with his Air Asia as well.
"I want to be involved in the medium term for two three years.
"It would allow to build the partnership, to grow together. Stability is what I am looking for."
However, the Indian driver, who competed with Hispania Racing last season before being dropped mid-way through the Championship, admits that for now he's still awaiting word from Team Lotus.
"Nothing is final until you have a contract in your hands. It will take about two-three weeks to know. They're maybe talking to 20 more guys other than me."
