Ferrari kick off 2011 launch season

Ferrari will get the launch season underway on Friday morning as they take the covers off what hope will be the 2011 Championship-winning car.

Preparations for the event were completed late Thursday when the ritual of applying the final touches to the livery took place.

Both Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, who arrived in Maranello shortly after lunchtime, were present for the occassion.

The new car, which will be named the F150 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, will be unveiled at 10am local time.

Attending the presentation ceremony, in a marquee erected inside the factory will be, President Luca di Montezemolo and team boss Stefano Domenicali as well as the drivers, Alonso and Massa.

The F150 is expected to make its track debut late Friday afternoon as, weather permitting, Alonso is scheduled to do some promotional filming linked to the new livery.

However, the real debut for the F150 takes place next Tuesday when pre-season testing kicks off in Valencia.
