Geneva 2011: Mini Cooper S D – first specs


During the Geneva Motor Show 2011 (3-13 March) Mini will present the brand new two-liter diesel engine 143 bhp, Cooper SD for all versions of the four models currently in range. This Mini Cooper SD, equipped with aluminum base and a variable geometry turbocharger, delivers a maximum power of 143 bhp at 4,000 rpm, 305 Nm available between 1,750 and 2,700 rpm and promises a minimum consumption of 4.3 liters per hundred kilometers (Cooper SD sedan), ranging between 4.4 l/100km SD Cooper Clubman, a 4.5 l/100km SD Cooper Convertible and Cooper SD 4.6/4.9 Countryman front-wheel drive or full.

Small differences exist even in measured performance values. The Mini Cooper SD sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 215 km/h, SD Cooper Clubman takes up to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and also runs up to 215 km/h, SD Cooper Cabrio lost a few tenths in acceleration (8.7 seconds) and a few km/h in speed (210 km/h) but is still faster than the SD Cooper Countryman, limited by size and dimensions: the version of “all forward” accelerate in 9.3 seconds and reaches 198 km/h, while the ALL4 closes the lot with numbers (9.4 seconds, 195 km/h) more similar to the concept of sportsmanship.


The Mini Cooper SD in all body variants using a six-speed manual transmission and the Start & Stop system and to recover energy during braking, the optimum shift point indicator and electromechanical power steering, and the package style does not receive any update with respect to the Cooper S petrol except the use of special plates. The Cooper SD range will be in dealerships in spring, with prices for the UK market including between 18,750 pounds (about € 22,100) for the hatchback and 23,190 pounds (about € 27,300) of All4 Countryman.
