HRT release first images of their 2011 car

HRT have issued a set of press images of their new car, giving fans an early preview of the F111 and its dramatic livery. The 2011 challenger has been developed by the outfit’s own engineering and design team, which is led by technical director Geoff Willis and chief designer Paul White.

“We feel really proud of the car our drivers will run this forthcoming season,” said HRT president Jose Ramon Carabante. “We are very pleased to introduce the first spec of the F111, which has seen a huge design effort from our side. This is only a first step as we are planning several updates during the season.”

World-renowned vehicle concept designer and visionary illustrator, Daniel Simon, was responsible for the car’s striking new red and white livery.

“I miss fearless visual statements and large beautiful numbers on today’s racing cars,” explained Simon. “Playing with the restrictions of what you can do to a complex F1 body is fun. There are many don’ts, but I found a way to lay courageous racing essence on the car.”

Team principal, Colin Kolles, added: “Daniel has created a wonderfully confident look for our new car which really captures the effort the whole team has put into developing the F111. The car design and the graphic design perfectly complement one another and mark the real beginnings of our ambitions.”

“The F111 represents a significant step forward for Hispania Racing. We have made a big improvement for starting our second season in Formula One and what you see in our new car confirms Hispania Racing´s commitment to F1.”

The team endured a difficult debut season in 2010. No pre-season testing and a changing driver line-up, which included Bruno Senna, Karun Chandhok, Sakon Yamamoto and Christian Klien, saw the team finish the year 11th in the standings, without a single world championship point.

They have already announced Narain Karthikeyan will drive for the team this season, but are yet to reveal who will partner him in their race line-up. The F111, meanwhile, is expected to make its on-track debut at the final pre-season test session, which will take place in Bahrain from March 3-6.
