PTT Pattaya Open Celebrates 20 Year on the WTA Tour

The PTT Pattaya Open, one of the longest running events on the WTA Tour is celebeates its 20th anniversary in 2011.

To mark the occasion the tournament has assembled one of the strongest ever filed of players in the history of the tournament, added additional seating capacity in the stadium and has planned more supporting activities.

Top seed in the US$ 220,000 tournament with be world No 3 “Vera Zvonareva” of Russia, she is making her 3rd successive appearance in Pattaya and will be chasing a first-ever hat-trick of victories in the 20 year history of the PTT Pattaya Open. No 2 seed is “Ana Ivanovic” of Serbia, the former world No 1 and Grand Slam champion is making her first appearance in Pattaya. No 3 seed is “Russian Maria Kirilenko”, No 4 seed is “Daniela Hantuchova” of Slovakia, No 5 seed is “Italy’s Roberta Vinci”, seeded No 6 is “Shaui Peng” of China, seeded No 7 is “Zheng Jie” of China and No 8 seed is “Sara Errani” of Italy.

An addition North stand with VIP corporate boxes has been added to the stadium increasing the capacity to over 2,500 seats on finals weekend.

The PTT Pattaya Open which was voted Tournament of the Year by the players last year will stage a number of activities around the event including the hosting of a luncheon for deprived children on Monday 7 February, the planting of coral to improvement the marine environment on 9 February and the staging of tennis clinics on Saturday 12 February.
