Aston Martin is launching two new models at Geneva Motor Show 2011, made on DB9 and DBS: Virage Coupe and Virage Volante. The two integrates DBS technology with the DB9 comfort.
Aston Martin Virage Coupe and Aston Martin Virage Volante are equipped with a 6.0 liter V12 engine, 510 hp at 6,500 rpm and 570 Nm at 5750 rpm. The engine is taken from the Aston Martin DBS and it is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission Touchtronic II, mounted on the rear axle. Aston Martin said that the new model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 299 km/h. For comparison, DB9 needs 4.8 seconds to reach the “hundred” and has a top speed of 306 km/h, while DBS accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 307 km/h .
Goal for the new Aston Martin Virage is to “capitalize technology from the DBS and to unite that with the comfort and refinement found in the DB9 and Rapide.” The model is equipped with a set of adaptive dampers with special settings, a dynamic stability control system with customizable settings and features ceramic brake discs with carbon elements. All these elements are provided in standard, but Aston Martin still offers many customization options for the new Virage.
On the exterior, the new Aston Martin Virage has a design very close to its brothers. Front bumper design is inspired by the One-77‘s, as well as for the grid with five horizontal bars, while the profile received a set of side skirts and new six LEDs located on the front wings. Rear bumper has also been readjusted. Aston Martin Virage will be offered in the standard 2+2 seating configuration, but customers can order a version that offers only two seats and it is lighter.
