SAMUT SONGKHRAM COMMUNITY COOPERATIVES PRODUCT FAIR

March 3 – 7, 2011/ 08.00 – 22.00 hrs

At Wat Tham Chariya Phirom temple, Ban Paew district, Samut Songkhram

The Baan Paew Agricultural Office and the Samut Songkhram community cooperatives group is jointly organizing the Samut Songkhram Community Cooperatives Product Fair, March 3 – 7, 2011.

In addition to providing an additional distribution channel for village products from the various communities of Samut Songkhram province, these activities are also being developed into a new agrotourism attraction. Located 75 kilometres southwest of Bangkok, Samut Songkram province, nicknamed Amphawa after its best known district, is just a short drive from Bangkok.

Each of the three districts of Samut Songkhram province is known for different products. The Samut Songkhram provincial centre or Amphoe Mueang is known for its fresh and processed seafood products. Katumban district is noted for its benjarong – five-coloured porcelain. Baan Paew district is home to numerous orchards and plantations and is known for its fresh fruits and vegetables.

Shop for fresh and processed products from the village communities
Some 200 stalls representing village producers from these three districts will be taking part in the Samut Songkhram Community Cooperatives Product Fair presenting visitors with an opportunity to shop for fresh products direct from the orchards, plantations, farms, and fisheries at very affordable prices.

Tropical Fruit Buffet – All You Eat for 20 Baht
Visitors will also be able to enjoy an ‘all you can eat’ fruit buffet offering a selection of flavourful tropical fruits such as longan, coconut, banana, Thai oranges, rose apple, mango and locally grown grape, all for 20 baht.

Tour of Riverside Plantations and Orchards
Other attractions of interest include a tour of the riverside plantations and orchards. Cruise the canals and waterways of Ban Paew by boat.

Tour of Study Centres
Visit study centres, such as the Ban Sai Tong Study Centre that specializes in Thai desserts and the coconut crafts study centre, to learn about these native crafts.
