Racing machines, big bikes, digital tech and vehicles of the past are also trying to attract the more serious motor heads.
Porsche
AAS Auto Service, the authorised importer of Porsche, is adding some spice to the Thai 911 model lineup with a lightweight special doubling both as a road and track car. The 911 GT3 RS comes with a 450hp 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six and six-speed manual gearbox. What makes the RS cooler than the regular GT3 are the rollover cage inside the car, flashy rear spoiler and stand-out body colours on the exterior. The price is estimated at between 17-20 million baht.
Lotus
Similarly to Porsche, Lotus will display a special Evora _ just that it can't be bought. The aim of the Evora Enduro GT Concept is to allow Lotus to develop further models for race homologation for different race classes. It comes with a Cosworth-tuned 4.0-litre V6 pumping out 440hp. Meanwhile, the Evora now has a six-speed automatic gearbox to choose from costing 7.9 million baht _ the same amount for the six-speed manual shifter.
BMW
The motorcycle division of BMW is unveiling its most expensive two-wheeler. Priced at 1.45 million baht, the K1600 GTL comes with a 160hp 1.6-litre inline-six motor. The luxurious cruiser comes with pampering features for both the driver and pillion rider.
Kawasaki
Kawasaki is one of the four Japanese motorcycle brands to display a comprehensive lineup at this year's motor show. The two key highlights are the sexy-looking Ninja Z1000 naked sports bike, pictured at right, coming with a 1.0-litre inline-four engine and the Versys powered by a 649cc inline-two unit. The Thai-made KLX 125 and D-Tracker 125 off-roaders are also being shown.
