Good Times on Lan Island
Many tourists are returning for another stay on Lan Island, as there are many tourist attractions on the island, offering fair prices, such as Ta Waen Beach and Samae Beach. Both of these locales are full of bungalows, guesthouses and other accommodations. The ferry to Lan Island is only 30 Baht, and it takes just 30 minutes to cruise to the island.
Mr. Sakda and Mrs. Sunee Yaemsut, who have been in the souvenir business for 30 years on Lan Island, stated that the tourists seemed to better understand that the political conflicts happening in Thailand are only a concern of the Thai people, so tourists can feel relaxed being here in the Land of Smiles.
Some factors causing higher prices for bungalow rentals are the increasing price of oil and gasoline, which are used to power the generators for electricity at night, but this is still not a problem for the tourists. Pattaya City Hall is in the process of installing water and electric pipelines to Lan Island, which will be a dream come true for the island’s residents when they are completed.
Most of the island’s tourists come from China, Korea, Russia, India, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and the beginning of 2011 has been very busy, compared to the same time last year.
