Timo Glock has admitted that he is worried Virgin may not be able to qualify inside the returning 107% time.
Drivers will not be allowed to participate in the race if they cannot set a lap within 107% of the fastest time recorded during the first qualifying session. While there are exceptions, Virgin's new MVR-02 looks slow and could well lack the pace to meet the requirements having been two seconds outside the cut-off point in first practice.
"We were running quite a lot of fuel," Glock told German Sky. "But I think for us it's going to be tight if we can't get the tyres to work. Hopefully in Q1 Red Bull and co. will slow down a little bit and maybe use the hard tyre."
Another team that could fall foul of the rule is HRT, who only managed to get one car out for an installation lap throughout the whole of Friday, and has yet to do any other running with its new F111.
