Mercedes GP Formula 1 racing car 'exploded' for show

More than 3,200 parts make up the display of the Mercedes GP Petronas F1 car
A Mercedes GP Formula 1 car has been stripped down into thousands of pieces for a new art show.
Each one is suspended from the ceiling giving the impression of being frozen in time a fraction of a second after exploding.
More than 3,200 separate parts were hung from a specially designed metal frame to create the display.
The aim is to give people a unique view of what makes a modern day Formula 1 car.
Called 'View Suspended 2' the art work was unveiled by the team's CEO Nick Fry at the Mercedes-Benz World F1 Exhibition in Surrey.
He said: "Formula One is watched by more than 580 million people worldwide.
"So to be able to see a racing car in this way is something very special and a unique look at the heart of the sport."
It was created by Dutch artist Paul Veroude.
But the time and effort that went into the display is dwarfed by the number of hours that goes into creating the genuine article.
An average F1 car needs around 90,000 man hours spent on designing it.
A further 200,000 hours then goes into manufacturing and testing the various materials that go into the car including carbon fibre, titanium, aluminium and magnesium.
