Live, interactive, special edition "Piers Morgan Tonight": Martha Stewart, Cory Booker, Twitter founders and more

Hundreds of millions of people around the world use Twitter – to talk, to learn, to interact. But what is the appeal? Why have celebrities like Martha Stewart and Alyssa Milano, award-winning journalists like Nick Kristof, and rising star politicians like Cory Booker, embraced the service to the point where they now speak to millions of users a day?

You'll find out tonight on a live, interactive, special edition "Piers Morgan Tonight" – when these guests and more join Piers Morgan (a self-proclaimed Twitter addict himself). He'll interview them as well as two founders of the sky-rocketing service.

Live at 9pmET, Piers interviews Biz Stone and Jack Dorsey, two young executives who founded Twitter just five years ago and have branched out far beyond the reaches of the tweet. How did they come up with the idea for Twitter – and did they ever imagine it would play such an integral role in the lives of Egyptian and Iranian protesters, or Oscar viewers, or news consumers?

Milano, Stewart, Booker and Kristof have taken to the service in a big way – and for vastly different reasons. How did Cory Booker find Newark residents to dig out of a snowstorm? Twitter. How did Nick Kristof report from foreign countries when phone and TV weren't an option? Twitter. Where can you get a sneak peek into the life, and kitchen, of Martha Stewart? Twitter. Where did Alyssa Milano announce the gender of her baby? Twitter. Wall Street Journal reporter Katie Rosman will also be a guest – she recently wrote about the way Twitter has consumed, and in some cases over-consumed, her life.

And Piers Morgan himself has used Twitter in innovative and unique ways – beginning with announcing his show's launch date on Twitter, live-tweeting his interview premiere show with Oprah Winfrey, and playing out dozens of "feuds" for all to see. (We'll also have the latest on Libya, from @AmbassadorRice – Susan Rice – and @NicRobertsonCNN.)

If you've never used Twitter, or if you're an addict like Piers, this fascinating phenomenon, as told by those who use it regularly, will be explored for the hour tonight, in front of a live studio audience. And you can participate too – send your tweets during the show using the hashtags #Piers and #OnlyOnTwitter (to tell something that could have ONLY happened on Twitter) or just tweet about @PiersMorgan, @PiersTonight or something you see from one of our guests. We'll incorporate your questions and comments throughout the show – the first fully-interactive cable news experience.

Tune in live at 9pmET (and repeated at MidnightET) and, of course, follow Piers and the show on Twitter.
