2nd DON KAI DEE BENJARONG FAIR

Preserving the Kingdom’s Legacy in Hand-Crafting Fine Benjarong Porcelain

Kratumban District of Samut Songkhram province is known for its magnificent Benjarong – the kingdom’s famous traditional Thai five-coloured porcelain.

The province will be hosting the 2nd Don Kai Dee Benjarong Fair at the Benjarong Village in Kratumban district, April 1 – 3, 2011, from 09.00 – 22.00 hrs

The colourful fair will be presented in the setting of a fun-filled traditional Thai temple fair and promises to be a captivating showcase of traditional Thai culture with lively folk songs and folk performances by popular Thai artists, as well as live demonstrations of various crafts.

Visitors will be presented with a welcome opportunity to witness the intricate steps involved of making these fine hand-crafted items as skilled local artisans carefully preserve local folk wisdom and indigenous art as they dexterously paint delicate lines and fine details and motifs using their palette of five colours onto white porcelain.
