Hua Hin's first floating market

The calm beach of Hua Hin has always been a famous attraction for Bangkok weekend trippers. The town will soon have its first floating market.

The market is expected to add a new shopping activity for visitors in addition to the many current markets such as an artificial old market, an art market, night market and flea market as well as community shopping malls.

The official name of the new market is Sam Phan Nam Hua Hin Floating Market. It is a another project of the group of Thai entrepreneurs who built the Ayothaya Floating Market in Ayutthaya last year.

Although the management team of Sam Phan Nam Hua Hin Floating Market declined to give any further details, they have already advertised the floating market through various sign boards in Hua Hin town.

Brochures were also distributed in seafood restaurants along Hua Hin beach calling for vendors to sell their products, food or services free of charge.

The market, which is scheduled to open on May 5, will have 31 zones and will be built with a mixed atmosphere evoking the early Rattanakosin era and a walking street in the West. Its large parking lot will accommodate up to 1,000 cars.

For more details, call the Tourism Authority of Thailand Prachuap Khiri Khan office at 032-513-885.
