(WASHINGTON) CNN – Taking his message directly to the people, specifically young people, President Obama is planning a "Facebook Live" town hall later this month. The event, tweeted by the White House Tuesday, says this is "not your average Facebook invite". (see page here) The president's official Facebook page touts the event as an opportunity "to connect with Americans across the country." This comes one day after Obama announced his plans to seek re-election on YouTube.
The virtual town hall is set for April 20th when the president will travel to Facebook headquarters in California to answer questions submitted on the event's "wall". The White House says the town hall will focus on the economy and the president will "discuss the tough choices we must all make to put our economy on a more responsible fiscal path, while still investing in the innovation economy that makes America more competitive."
Facebook will actually select the questions and stream the event live. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is expected to appear with the president.
