GP2 – A black Friday for Bianchi

Monaco, 27 May – Jules Bianchi’s race seemed to have got off on the right foot as the youngster who is on the books with Maranello’s Scuderia Ferrari was tackling the first race of the third round of the GP2 season. The Lotus ART driver had managed to make his way from eighth to fifth place, when he was involved in a collision with Giedo Van der Garde as they fought for fourth place. Bianchi had to pit for a new nose but then had to retire as he was pulling away again with an as yet unidentified technical problem. Davide Valesecchi won the race for Team Air Asia ahead of Alvaro Parente (Racing Engineering) and Luca Filippi (Super Nova Racing.)

The GP2 contenders will be back on track again at 16.10 tomorrow for their second race, the Sprint event.
