Ferrari celebrates Racing Days in Shanghai

Shanghai, 23 July – Today saw the start of the Ferrari Racing Days in Shanghai, an event organised by Ferrari Greater China, at the circuit that has hosted the Chinese Grand Prix since 2004, with a layout that pays homage to the traditions of the country as it mimics the form of the Chinese “shang” character. The weekend programme features the Asia Pacific series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, as well as the non-competitive F1 Clienti, FXX and 599XX programmes, when owners of these cars get to try their hand on track in some untimed lap sessions, alongside professional drivers, under the supervision of Ferrari engineers.

Also taking part are over two hundred Ferrari owners, who can drive their cars on track, while tomorrow ends with a demonstration from Scuderia Ferrari driver, Giancarlo Fisichella, who will be driving a fantastic F2008. Fisichella is a guest of honour, taking on the role of tutor based on his experience in Formula 1 and GT racing. “It’s a great honour for me to represent the Ferrari family at this amazing event which brings together owners and fans from all corners of the country,” he said. “The large number of people involved is proof that passion for our marque knows no bounds geographically. Every time I come to Shanghai, I am struck by how amazed the crowds are when confronted by the beauty and fascination of our cars.”

Visitors to the event will be able to marvel at “The Dream of Ferrari in the Heart of China”, an amazing exhibition on loan from the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, which tells the story of the Prancing Horse, featuring a Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona, trophies won by the Scuderia, as well as historic videos and photos of the company and its cars. On show at the Shanghai circuit will be a Ferrari Testarossa, a 288 GTO and a Dino, on show alongside more recent models such as a California, a 458 Italia and a 599 GTB Fiorano. The on and off track entertainment on the programme means that owners and fans have been able to sample the world of Ferrari thanks to an event that is a perfect mix of tradition and innovation, reflecting the values of the Maranello marque.
