IT’S READY, FREDDIE, GROW FOR CHARITY

on Jul 29, 2011

There was a touch of over-the-top, operatic flair in the Factory recently as our mechanics donned Freddie Mercury moustaches for pitstop practice.

The reason for their facial hair tribute to the Queen lead singer? All part of a charity event to raise funds for Aids awareness.

It meant a morning hampered by stick-on, top-lip fuzz for our boys as part of the Freddie For A Day campaign, but it didn’t appear to affect their timing.

They didn’t seem Under Pressure, frankly they just wanted to Play The Game and would never say It’s A Hard Life. To be fair, in a Flash, each and every one would declare I’m In Love With My Car and whatever the race We Will Rock You. And our speed in the pitlane? It’s down to hard work, practice and of course… It’s A Kind of Magic.

Freddie For A Day is a worldwide campaign launched by Freddie Mercury fans to raise money and awareness of the Mercury Phoenix Trust, which was created to distribute money from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS awareness held in 1992 and September 5 2011 marks what would have been Freddie’s 65th birthday.
