Mercedes announced that will present at Frankfurt Motor Show a new version developed for the current SLK. It is a 2.1 liter diesel recognized by the 250 CDI indicative. Alongside Mercedes SLK the German car manufacturer will present at the Frankfurt Auto Show the performance version of the SLK , named SLK 55 AMG.
After three generations which has been proven a successful model, Mercedes SLK will be offered to the public and with a diesel engine, known by the name 250 CDI. Available from 13 September this year, the diesel convertible uses a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine capable of providing a total of 204 horsepower and 500 Nm. The engine equipped with common-rail and turbo-compressor is familiar to the fans of Mercedes S-Klasse and CLS.
The engine guarantees a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 6.7 seconds, with acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h (50-75 mph) in 4.3 seconds. Maximum speed stops at 243 km/h. Even so, the diesel unit promises impressive consumption, only 4.9 litres/100 kilometers and emissions of 128 g/km.
For starters, the new diesel engine on Mercedes SLK will be offered only with 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox, the alternative manual six reports will not be introduced until the second quarter of next year.
The series equipment for the new Mercedes SLK 250 CDI will include the Start&Stop system. Optionally, customers can order the folding roof with Magic Sky Control function, sports suspension or electrically adjustable suspension.
Official debut of the new Mercedes SLK version will be recorded live on stage at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.

The German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has chosen to present three weeks before the start of the Frankfurt Motor Show the new Mercedes SLK 55 AMG. “It is the most powerful SLK of all time”, this is how Mercedes began the official press conference. Mercedes SLK 55 AMG will have a new 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that provides 422 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and develops a torque of 540 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
To verify the German claims, the old generation SLK 55 AMG produces 62 hp less and developed smaller torque by 30 Nm. The engine power is transmitted to the rear axle via an AMG Speedshift with seven reports that can be set in three modes: sport, manual and efficient. On the performance chapter, the new Mercedes SLK 55 AMG is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 4.6 seconds and the top speed was electronically limited to 250 km/h.
The really exciting part just beginning, as the new SLK 55 AMG roadster is able to travel 100 kilometers on just 8.4 liters of fuel and the CO2 emissions were measured at 195 grams per kilometer. On the outside, the new Mercedes SLK 55 AMG has a new body kit, tinted optical blocks and a new set of aluminum wheels finished in black. Inside, customers will love the sports seats and the leather upholstery.
