Another podium for the Ferrari Driver Academy at Spa

Spa-Francorchamps, 7 August – Brandon Maisano came away from the fourth round of the Italian Formula 3 series with a third place at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Having started from pole on the side of the track that was still damp, the French BVM Target driver was unable to fend off the attacks of Sergio Campana and Maxime Jousse, who moved into first and second and from then on, he drove a defensive race, fighting to maintain his podium position to the end.

The other Ferrari Driver Academy student, Raffaele Marciello, finished fourth for Prema Powerteam, after a last lap battle, fighting off Victor Guerin (Lucidi Motors,) Michael Lewis (Prema,) Regalia (Arco) and Edward Cheever (Lucidi Motors.)

“The overall result of this weekend is alright,” commented the head of the programme, Luca Baldisserri, after the 28 minute race.”Although both drivers could have done much better, we can come away pleased with getting two podiums.” Both men are some way off the top of the table, with Marciello fifth, one place ahead of Maisano, but there is still everything to play for, with half the season still to go. The two youngsters from the Ferrari school now get a well deserved summer break, prior to the next round on 4 September in Adria.
