Williams chairman upbeat on future
Monday 8th August 2011
Williams chairman Adam Parr believes the future looks promising for his team after a change in personnel ahead of the 2012 season.
This season has seen Williams manage only two top 10 finishes so far, with Rubens Barrichello coming home in ninth place in both Monaco and Canada.
It was announced earlier in the year that technical director Sam Michael and chief aerodynamicist Jon Tomlinson would leave to make way for Mike Coughlan's return to Formula One.
And Parr thinks the shake-up will put Williams in a better position for the future and is also looking forward to using Renault engines from next year.
"There is a real sense of optimism about the future," Parr told Autosport.
"Everybody in the team is thrilled to be back with Renault next year, very happy with the new people coming in. I think people needed to feel change. Everyone individually has been doing the best they can.
"It's not that people are disliked. On the contrary, I think everyone likes the people who have been leading the team in the recent past.
"But there's the sense that we are not getting the results and we needed a change, and people like what we are doing and where we are going."
But Parr is still determined to salvage something from this season and says no-one in the team will be giving up despite much of the focus now switching to 2012.
He said: "We are halfway through the season. We just have to do a better job. No one in this team has given up on this year, we will keep going until we do better. It's all one can say."
