Italian GT – The AF Corse Ferrari dominates at Vallelunga
Maranello, 18 September – After finishing third in the first leg of the Italian GT Championship event yesterday at Vallelunga, the AF Corse team added another notch to its belt by winning Race 2 with the 458 Italia GT3 crewed by Ferdinando Geri and Marco Cioci. The team from Piacenza, Italy, here off the back of its win in the prestigious Le Mans Series which gave Ferrari the Constructors’ title with one race in hand, thus confirmed its ranking as the team to beat at national level as well. At the start, Cioci immediately went into the lead, pulling out an advantage of over a minute to the second placed Sonvico (Audi Sport Italia) handing an assured victory to team-mate Geri, the first of the season. The Italian GT championship will be back on track at Mugello on 2 October, for competitors in the GT Cup class, while one will have to wait until 16 October for the final round at Monza.
