Practice for the Italian Grand Prix, the last European race of the season, got underway this morning against the beautiful backdrop of the Monza park.

In the past, teams would have tested extensively here the week prior to the race, but that’s not allowed now, so for everyone out there this morning, it was a case of evaluating the radical car set-ups used to deal with this high speed track, significantly very low drag aero configuration and a healthy braking system as well as a ride height that copes with the kerbs. Apart from brief “moments” when our duo ran off track, the morning went according to plan, with Jaime Alguersuari setting the tenth best time and Sébastien Buemi the seventeenth. The McLaren duo of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button topped the time sheet, followed by Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber for Red Bull Racing. Rounding off the top six were Adrian Sutil for Force India and Vitaly Petrov for Renault.
