F3 – Title race comes to an end for Maisano and Marciello at Monza

Maranello,15 October –Brandon Maisano (BVM Target) finished fifth and Raffaele Marciello (Prema) was sixth in the eighth and final round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship, held at Monza today. The two Maranello Ferrari Driver Academy students did not have much luck at the famous Italian circuit and are now out of the race to the title. In the scramble at the start, Maisano who was second on the grid, lost two places, while Marciello ended up spinning after a collision on the straight and dropped to the back of the pack. The efforts of the two youngsters came to nothing in a race won by the Californian Michael Lewis, who thanks to this result took the Rookies National Trophy with one race in hand. Behind him came championship leader Sergio Campana and France’s Maxime Jousse. The second leg, which will decide the 2011 title, takes place on Sunday at 10.00
