Mugello doesn’t produce the desired results for the FDA

Maranello, 2 October – This weekend the circuit of Mugello saw Raffaele Marciello and Brandon Maisano in action in the seventh and penultimate round of the Italian Formula 3 championship. The first of the two races was won by Michael Lewis (Prema) while the Ferrari Driver Academy entrants finished sixth (Marciello) and ninth (Maisano). Prema Powerteam’s Marciello had a great start to the race as he tried to take the lead from the third row of the grid. But he fell back to sixth place behind Eddie Cheever (Lucidi Motors) and ahead of Maxime Jousse (BVM-Target) and Simone Iaquinta (JD Motorsport). His fellow academy driver Brandon Maisano (BVM-Target) ended up in the same position from which he had started on the grid. Race 2 didn’t bring home the results the two young talents from the Ferrari academy had hoped for either. Matching their positions from Race 1, the pair took sixth and ninth places again in the final race that was won by Kevin Giovesi (Lucidi Motor).

With these results from the seventh and penultimate race weekend of the season, the overall championship table now sees Marciello in equal third place with Edoardo Liberati, and 27 points behind the leader Campana (132). But the championship is not yet over as there are 36 points to play for in the final round at Monza. Brandon Maisano (BVM-Target) is 31 points behind the leader but he is paying more attention to the rookie championship where he is just seven points behind Michael Lewis (142) and equal on points with Marciello.

The final round of the Italian Formula 3 championship is scheduled for Monza on October 16.
