Narain Karthikeyan on Indian Grand Prix (GP): The biggest day in my racing career

Tuesday 04, October 2011

Narain Karthikeyan says it best when he spoke about his participation in the inaugural Indian Grand Prix. The Hispania Racing Team (HRT) driver, Narain says, "The biggest day in my racing career." The Indian driver comes into the race in the last weekend of October 2011, will step in for Daniel Ricciardo at Noida.

HRT has not yet scored a point in the 2011 F1 racing season up until now. Narain opines that the Indian GP would boost F1 popularity in India. The racer did get on track at the Friday free practice session at the Marina Bay Circuit, and will again get behind the wheels at Suzuka this weekend during the free practice session. Narain had stopped driving since the 2011 German GP this July.

He isn't too optimistic about getting a point and said the HRT is a small team. As such, despite high expectations, getting points is difficult. He will enjoy the race, and aims at getting to the finish line while putting up a fight.

Narain Karthikeyan had this to say. "There are enough fans in India and it is well-followed," "I hope this will give motorsport a boost and also exposure and publicity. It will help us and the next generation because a lot of corporates are involved."

"Driving in the Indian Grand Prix will be great," he said. "I will be driving in front of my home crowd and there will be a lot of support. I can say that it will be the biggest day in my racing career. Those three days will be special."
