GET THOSE SLICKS WORKING!

At last, even if the skies grew overcast after a bright start, we have had an entire hour of free practice run on a completely dry track this Saturday morning.

It meant everyone was cramming in as many laps as possible to get some sort of understanding of how the Soft and Supersoft Pirellis would cope with this track. The tyre supplier has said itself this is an aggressive tyre choice and, once again, tyre degradation could be the key factor on Sunday. Both our drivers spent a lot of time on track, trying both types of tyre to get an idea of how many laps will be possible on each type during the race. The clouds are due to roll in for qualifying, although no rain is expected, however, the wind is picking up and this could be an element to consider as teams get ready to tackle this afternoon’s qualifying session.

Jaime and Sébastien finished 12th and 13th respectively this morning, completing a total of 41 laps laps. Fastest was Japanese GP winner Jenson Button ahead of McLaren team-mate, Lewis Hamilton. Mark Webber was third for Red Bull, followed by the Ferrari duo of Alonso and Massa, with Schumacher sixth for Mercedes.
