Abu Dhabi GP - The script remains the same
Yas Marina, 12 November - A Red Bull – McLaren cocktail on the front two rows and an all-red third row. The actors on the Grand Prix stage are giving their eighteenth and penultimate performance of this year’s Formula 1 play this weekend in Abu Dhabi, therefore everyone knows the story and has read the script. Leading the cast in tomorrow’s 55 lap performance will be Sebastian Vettel and even if this year has not gone as planned for Scuderia Ferrari, the Prancing Horse team can appreciate a great performance, so it is worth pointing out that the Red Bull youngster has now equalled Nigel Mansell’s record of 14 pole positions in one season. Alongside him will be Lewis Hamilton for McLaren, while Row 2 features their respective team-mates, with Jenson Button third and Mark Webber fourth.
Fernando Alonso is in his “favourite” fifth place, for the eighth time this year, hoping to exploit the advantage of being on the clean side of the track at the start and during the opening lap, which have often been profitable moments for the Spaniard. Felipe Massa starts next to him in sixth. Behind the 150º Italias come the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher, while the top ten is completed by the Force India’s of Adrian Sutil and Paul Di Resta. As is often the case at tracks with slower sections, the Ferrari duo is hoping the difference in lap time will be less significant in a race scenario, when the cars must start with a full fuel load that equates to driving a car with two passengers on board for the opening laps. Last year and Fernando especially does not need to be reminded of it, overtaking proved very difficult on this twisty layout, but this year there is the usual trio of tools, the Downforce Reduction System, the Kinetic Energy Recovery System and the Pirelli tyres. In fact, the latter might not play such a significant role on Sunday evening as tyre degradation has not been significant so far this weekend. However, with two DRS zones there’s a chance this third running of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix might be the best so far in terms of spectacle and excitement under the floodlights.

Gli attori sul palcoscenico del Gran Premio stanno interpretando la loro diciottesima e penultima performance della stagione di Formula 1 che si disputa questo fine settimana ad Abu Dhabi; pertanto, tutti conoscono la storia e hanno letto il copione. A condurre il cast nei 55 giri previsti per domani sarà Sebastian Vettel e, anche se quest'anno non è andato come previsto per la Scuderia Ferrari, il team del Cavallino Rampante può consolarsi con una grande prestazione; inoltre, vale anche la pena sottolineare che il giovane pilota della Red Bull ha eguagliato il record di Nigel Mansell con 14 pole position conquistate in una stagione. Fernando Alonso è in quella che si può definire la sua posizione “preferita”, al quinto posto, per l'ottava volta quest'anno, con la speranza di poter sfruttare l’opportunità di trovarsi sul lato pulito della pista in partenza e nel giro di apertura, due momenti che in passato gli hanno regalato qualche vantaggio. Felipe Massa si trova accanto a lui in sesta posizione. Dietro le due Ferrari 150º Italia ci sono le Mercedes di Nico Rosberg e Michael Schumacher e, a completare la top ten, le Force India di Adrian Sutil e Paul Di Resta. Come spesso accade in circuiti con sezioni più lente, il duo Ferrari spera che la differenza di tempo sul giro possa essere un fattore meno rilevante durante la gara, quando le vetture partono con il pieno di carburante che, per i primi giri, equivale a guidare una macchina con due passeggeri a bordo. L'anno scorso, specialmente per Fernando, quanto successo non ha bisogno di essere ricordato, con sorpassi molto difficili da effettuare su questo tracciato tortuoso, anche se quest'anno c'è a disposizione il solito trio di strumenti, il DRS (Downforce Reduction System), il Kers (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) e gli pneumatici Pirelli.In realtà, quest'ultima opzione non dovrebbe svolgere un ruolo significativo nella serata di domenica, dato che il fattore gomme non è stato significativo finora in questo weekend. Tuttavia, con due zone designate per il DRS, c'è la concreta possibilità che questa terza edizione del Gran Premio di Abu Dhabi possa rivelarsi la migliore finora in termini di spettacolo ed emozioni sotto i riflettori.
