The two weeks since the last Grand Prix - where Fernando gained a place on the podium on the brand-new circuit in New Delhi - were extremely intense. We worked very hard and tried to improve the performance of our Ferrari 150° Italia, also testing some new components with the next season already in sight.
The moment we arrived in Abu Dhabi we were immediately fascinated by this very special atmosphere of this place. It’s the third time we’re racing here on this circuit, but it’s still not easy to get used to the feelings this futuristic track prompts.
And then there’s also the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, which opened last year. We had the possibility to visit the theme park and spend a couple of hours away from the track. A track, which doesn’t really give us the satisfaction we’d hoped for: this is already the 18th and penultimate race of the season and for us from the Scuderia there are not many more presents left this year.
Everybody in the team is still extremely concentrated and we want to conclude the season as good as possible, gaining some good positions and points to encourage us all for the development of the single-seater for 2012. Unfortunately today’s qualifying confirmed the negative trend with us third, behind Red Bull and McLaren, two fierce competitors, who don’t make any presents whatsoever. Our two drivers did very well and they gave it their all, despite a not really encouraging result. Fernando had a respectable Q3, where he tried to use the entire potential of his car, but he couldn’t get beyond fifth position on tomorrow’s grid. Felipe, after a good qualifying, gained sixth position, without being able to use the new front wing.
We know that tomorrow won’t be easy to gain a place on the podium, but we’re going to try, because we’re convinced that we still can have our say, trying to satisfy the fans of the Prancing Horse, who always following us with great enthusiasm.

Sono state due settimane molto intense quelle appena trascorse dall’ultimo Gran Premio, con il podio ottenuto da Fernando sul nuovo circuito di New Delhi. È stato un periodo di duro lavoro in cui abbiamo cercato di migliorare le prestazioni della nostra Ferrari 150° Italia, provando anche alcune componenti nuove in vista della prossima stagione. Giunti ad Abu Dhabi ci siamo subito fatti travolgere dall’atmosfera sempre molto particolare che si respira in questo luogo: siamo alla terza edizione su questo circuito ma ancora non è facile abituarsi alle sensazioni che regala questo impianto futuristico. E, poi, qui si trova anche il Ferrari World Abu Dhabi che, a un anno dalla sua apertura, abbiamo avuto l’occasione di poter rivisitare, trascorrendo qualche ora lontano dal lavoro in pista. Una pista che, purtroppo, non ci sta dando le soddisfazioni che ci aspettavamo: arrivati ormai al diciottesimo e penultimo appuntamento del calendario, infatti, la stagione per noi della Scuderia non ha più molto da regalare. Noi del team manteniamo comunque la concentrazione sempre alta perché puntiamo a chiudere l’anno nel miglior modo possibile, cercando punti e posizioni che ci diano qualche soddisfazione e un incoraggiamento in più in vista dello sviluppo della monoposto per il 2012. Purtroppo le qualifiche di oggi hanno confermato il trend negativo che ci vede terzo team dietro a Red Bull e McLaren, due concorrenti davvero molto agguerrite che non accennano a concedere nulla all’avversario. I nostri due piloti si sono comportati molto bene e hanno dato tutto ciò che potevano, nonostante un risultato non certo confortante. Fernando ha fatto una Q3 di tutto rispetto, cercando di sfruttare tutto il potenziale della macchina, pur non riuscendo ad andare oltre il quinto posto per la griglia di domani; Felipe, invece, dopo una buona prova, ha conquistato il sesto tempo, senza poter utilizzare la nuova ala anteriore. Sappiamo che domani non sarà facile salire sul podio ma ci proveremo in tutti i modi, convinti di poter ancora dire la nostra, cercando di dare qualche gioia ai tanti tifosi della Rossa che ci seguono sempre con grande partecipazione.
