Felipe Massa: Thinks that he has done nothing wrong despite numerous collisions

Felipe Massa insists he has not been at fault for any of the numerous collisions he has had with Lewis Hamilton recently.

The two drivers have clashed a total of six times during the 2011 season, with the latest collision at the Indian Grand Prix resulting in Massa being given a drive-through penalty.

The Ferrari driver was not impressed by the decision from the four-man panel of stewards, which was led by Johnny Herbert, although he has conceded Hamilton may not have been at fault either.

The amount of times Hamilton and Massa have collided has even led to odds being offered on them coming together again at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend, but the Brazilian played down the chances of another controversy.

"No, I don't think so, and anyway I will do everything right, which is what I've done all the time," Massa said.

"I've not done anything wrong. Even though we've touched many times this year it has not been my fault.

No mistake

"What happened in the last race was not my mistake, maybe not even from Lewis. Maybe you could say it was a racing incident.

"For me the mistake came from the stewards. When I make a mistake on track I'm the first one to say, 'guys, I made a mistake'. I've done that all my career."

"So I was very upset, not because it was Lewis, but because I was penalised for something that was not wrong. That is my point."

It was suggested to Massa that there was a danger of their feud affecting both him and Hamilton in the long run, but the 30-year-old also dismissed that notion.

"You make it sound like he has just had a problem with me," he added.

"But he has had a problem with many other drivers, not just me. He has been a little too aggressive this season."

Contact

Both drivers confirmed there has been no personal contact between them since their last coming together, although Hamilton says he is ready to clear the air.

"We've had our collisions on the track, but I really don't have any problems with him, and that's been the same all year," the McLaren driver said.

"I would like to clear the air, but we have to meet in the middle, it can't just come from one side. He has to be willing as well.

"If you want to be a man about it, then be a man about it and sort it out. I'm a reasonable person so I'm happy to squash things.

"I haven't particularly enjoyed the remarks he has come out with a lot, but then I just rise above it."
