Jaime Alguersuari leaves Abu Dhabi determined to move on after a difficult Grand Prix , who finished in 15 th place. The Spaniard paid a high price after a mistake in the pits and a wrong tyre strategy.
Alguersuari started the Grand Prix on a set of used soft tires and was able to keep his 15th place. Sergio Perez's unscheduled pit stop let him won a place on the second lap, though later he could only remain in despair trying to overtake Vitaly Petrov. The Russian covered all holes and Jaime could not get advantage of his unloaded aerodynamic configuration.
At lap 15 came the big mistake of the race. Toro Rosso called Jaime in to make his first pit stop. A priori, the Spanish had to switch to a set of soft tires, but in an unexpected change of tactics, the team installed him the harder compound that, to make matters worse, was not ready. As a result, Jaime lost 20 seconds and rejoined the race at the back of the pack.
The new strategy did not pay off and, although Jaime performed some excellent overtaking maneuvers, he could not go far away the 15th place, as his pace was slower than expected. At the end, then, Alguersuari showed some resignation: "We lost 20 seconds in the first pit stop and that was game over for us. It is true that we did not have the pace to fight against Force India, but we could have beaten the Saubers and reach the 10th spot. Anyway, now it is time to leave Abu Dhabi behind and think about Brazil".
The 2011 World Championship ends on November the 27th at Interlagos, Brazil.
Un error en boxes arruina la carrera de Jaime Alguersuari en Abu Dhabi

Jaime Alguersuari abandona Abu Dhabi decidido a pasar página tras un difícil Gran Premio, que ha finalizado en 15ª posición. El piloto español ha dejado escapar un probable punto por un error de su equipo en los boxes.
Alguersuari tomó la salida con un juego de gomas blandas usado, que no le afectaron demasiado en la arrancada y le permitieron mantener su posición. Acto seguido, una detención inesperada de Sergio Pérez le permitió ganar una plaza en el segundo giro, aunque en adelante no pudo más que desesperarse en el intento de avanzar a Vitali Petrov. El piloto ruso tapó todos los agujeros posibles, y Jaime ni siquiera pudo echar mano de su más descargada configuración aerodinámica.
En el 15º paso por meta llegó el gran error de la carrera. Toro Rosso llamó a Alguersuari a boxes para efectuar su primer pit stop. A priori, el español debía montar un juego de gomas blandas nuevo, pero en un inesperado cambio de táctica, su equipo optó por el compuesto más duro, que, para colmo de males, ¡no estaba listo! En consecuencia, 20 segundos perdidos y el regreso al pozo del pelotón.
La nueva baza estratégica no funcionó y, aunque el catalán efectuó numerosas maniobras de avanzamiento en pista hasta alcanzar la 15ª plaza, su ritmo de carrera fue mucho más lento de lo que se esperaba. Al acabar, pues, Alguersuari se mostraba resignado: "Hemos perdido 20 segundos en el pit stop y ahí se ha acabado todo. Es cierto que no teníamos ritmo para pelear con los Force India, pero sí para entrar entre los diez primeros. En cualquier caso, ahora toca agachar la cabeza y pensar en Brasil. En cierto modo, el Yas Marina era un circuito difícil para nosotros".
El mundial de Fórmula 1 de 2011 se despedirá el próximo 27 de noviembre desde Interlagos, en Brasil.
