AkzoNobel prizewinners help us out in Brazil!
Chelsea Beckman of New Zealand and Brendan Rorrison of the UK were with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes at the Brazilian GP as winners of the AkzoNobel Formula 1 Traineeship.
Chelsea and Brendan beat over 1300 others across the world for the chance to work for our partner AkzoNobel, who provide the amazing paint finish on our cars, over the weekend.
They met Lewis Hamilton, got to tour the garage and even got to attend one of our press conferences.
It wasn’t all sitting around though – Chelsea and Brendan had to work for AkzoNobel, inspecting the finish on the cars and writing a report for the company.
Chelsea said it had been the most incredible weekend.
“I’m a massive Formula 1 fan and everybody went above and beyond for us, giving us a tour of the garage which gave us a great opportunity to see the beautiful Sikkens paint job up close. We were lucky to meet Lewis, and to sit in on the press conference; something not many people get to experience. Thank you to AkzoNobel and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes for a truly unforgettable weekend!”
“My experience with AkzoNobel and Mclaren was incredible and one of the most exciting times of my life. Not only did I get to meet drivers and the team but seeing the big impact that paint has on the Formula 1 car has really enlightened me to its importance. My very first F1 race was also amazing with the only possible way it could be better would have been a win for McLaren! I am very grateful for getting this opportunity and should the competition be run again I urge everyone to give it a shot."
